Trader Joe’s Horchata Ice Cream! Horchata, Good. Ice Cream, Good.
It’s been extremely hot in the East Bay lately, and I was so glad to see this Horchata Ice Cream at Trader Joe’s! Since I’ve deactivated Facebook and Instagram, I haven’t seen any posts re TJ’s new items, so seeing this at the store was definitely a surprise!
Not Dairy Free
The horchata ice cream container says rice milk, but it’s actually not dairy free. Its ingredients list says cream and milk as the first ingredients!
Rich Ice Cream?
In comparison to the slow churned Dreyer’s / Edy’s ice cream stuff, this one pacts on quite a bit of numbers lol. I expect this to be super creamy, on the denser side and rather rich. Let’s dig in!
Overall Thoughts
One of the better and unique Trader Joe’s ice creams. I did expect a bit more, but it isn’t a bad ice cream. I’d recommend it if you enjoy horchata; however, my issue with horchata is that I always wished it was more cinnamon-y, just as how I feel about this ice cream. I love bits in my drinks (such as jellies and whatnot within boba), but I could do without the bits from this ice cream. It adds on a sweetness that I don’t really welcome, but otherwise, this was pretty good.
