I’m generally not a fan of typical jams (think diners, small packet of jams on the table), but I’d heard great things about Bonne Maman jams. When I learned about the advent calendar here and (above image), I was instantly intrigued by its design. The mini jams looked ADORABLE, and the packaging design was oh-so-pretty. Unfortunately, while other jam packages, including mini jam sets, were available to purchase, the Bonne Maman website showed the advent calendar as “Sold Out.”
Spotted at… Safeway!
Later, on my weekly grocery shopping trip, I found myself at a Safeway (instead of my usual go-to Trader Joe’s) that day. Something near the checkout lanes caught my eyes, and I discovered that Safeway had numerous Bonne Maman 2020 Advent Calendars available! I grabbed one and put it in the cart.
Too Busy to Immediately Enjoy
Work has been extremely busy this month, so I didn’t have a chance to open the advent calendar until recently. OMG IT IS SO CUTE. It has a beautifully designed cover, and once you lift the cover there’s the actual advent calendar with the flaps for each day. Similar to other advent calendars I’ve seen (like the chocolate ones we get the kids), the flaps are not in numerical order. Unlike most calendars, the Bonne Maman calendar has flaps on both sides, perhaps so that the actual item is not too tall or too long, which is perfect. Unfortunately (depending how bothered one is), some early numerical days are on both sides, so you’ll be opening flaps on both sides through the month as opposed to days 1 – 13 on one side and days 14 – 24 on the other side.
All Jams Can be Taken Out Cleanly
If you are tempted to get at all the jams at once, there is an option to do so without ripping apart everything! There are some flaps on top of the packaging through which one can see how all the jams are packaged in there neatly and securely.

Haven’t Tried Any Now, but Will Do Later
All of the flavors sound awesome! I’m still admiring the cuteness of the packaging and jars for now, but I should consume by June of 2021 according to the main packaging (some individual jams have expiration dates of 2022).
