Oribe Gold Lust Hair Oil Really is Nourishing!

Recall that my hair was colored (balayage!) a few weeks ago. It looks amazing right off the bat since the stylist styles the hair and adds product. The scalp feels awesome and can go for many days without a wash. Great stuff there… how do I get those results at home? I don’t because I’m too lazy to practice styling my own hair – it’s either up or down. I haven’t had success taking care of my hair after color the prior times I had it colored, and it usually just ended up looking like a frizzy mess. It might not look as bad in the front, but the back would look awful and so damaged!

Stylist with Great Communication

I was really lucky to find Krystelle as my stylist as not only did she balayage my hair, she taught me stuff re hair as well. There were some brands/products that she recommended and she talked to me about the steps that she does, so I have the opportunity to take that info and take care of my hair outside the salon.

Oribe was Recommended

The salon carried Keratase and Oribe products, and Krystelle recommended a reparative Oribe shampoo and conditioner and their line of products. I haven’t heard of them before, so I looked it up when I got home. I told myself I’ll take care of my hair this time around, so I splurged on some fancy shampoo, conditioner, hair lotion, and some hair oil.

Oribe packaging. Neat!

What I Bought

I ordered a discounted Keratase set of purple shampoo & conditioner from Keratase to start, and then some Oribe shampoo/conditioner as well as a travel sized hair lotion (hair moisturize cream) from Blue Mercury to avoid shipping time.

Thoughts on Products

Keratase felt very drying. The shampoo is deep purple and the conditioner is light purple. Didn’t work too well on my hair. Super frizz for me. The Oribe was much better for me. The shampoo and conditioner smelled better and my hair felt softer as well. The super shine moisturizing cream was nice as well, but I felt I needed to put a lot in to really make it work.

MORE Oribe!

Oribe has got to be the most expensive hair product stuff I’ve ever bought. I was impressed with the lil shampoo, conditioner, and moisturizing cream for hair that I decided to order from them directly online! Nice website that features their products by categories, added to cart, put in a discount code, checked out. Only issue was that I did not receive shipping confirmation until after I received my package (the email came right after another lol).

Beautifully Packaged

The Oribe stuff was beautifully packaged. It came in a decent sized box, unlike the Keratase which came in a huuuuuuge box with a lot of wasteful packaging stuff in there.

The stuff I ordered from Oribe - travel sized conditioner, travel sized hair oil, and a full size hair oil. They do deluxe samples, so that’s the stuff to the right - a dry shampoo and hair spray. Not sure if I’d use it though, but perhaps I’ll try when I have some time. During beginning of May, they had an “essentials” code that gave you the box with $75+ spend, which includes the deluxe samples and a mini hair moisturizing cream. Nice! I wonder what other codes they’ll have in the near future.

What I Ordered

I know I can’t be using hotel shampoo and conditioner when I’m off to Vegas next month! Gotta have the good hair stuff to keep my hair looking not so damaged LOL. I will be bringing my travel sized Oribe shampoo that I bought from Blue Mercury, so I needed a travel sized conditioner. I decided to go for their purple conditioner, which is their conditioner for blondes to give that product a try. The moisturizing cream I tried was good, but felt I needed a lot of it, so I decided to try their hair oil. I took a gamble and ordered a full size for home and a travel size to pack for my trip.

Thank You Oribe Hair Oil for Not Smelling Terrible

I’ve tried oils for hair in the past, mostly the stuff that came in some subscription boxes and have rave reviews. It wasn’t something that I sought otherwise. That stuff felt OK in the hair, but OMG it smelled so bad that I never used it more than twice. The Oribe hair oil gamble paid off as the oil felt great and though there is some kind of scent as I’m putting it on my hair, it was very mild in comparison.

How to Use?

After washing my hair, I put some all over and then blew dry my hair. I then put some more toward the ends afterwards.

The Oribe hair oil!

Worth It?

The packaging of the Oribe hair oil looks great, but could be made better. It’s supposed to be a pump, but the whole thing came off. Other than that and the high price tag ($57!), it’s really good. My colored hair this time around looks way better than prior hair colors, and this product really helped! I’d definitely buy more Oribe in the future. I’m currently exploring many of their products to see which works best for me, and my wallet is not so thrilled.

This was after my hair wash after coloring my hair. Before the Oribe hair oil stuff, so it looks better right now. Yeah, mini ear update as well haha.
