STEPtember – It’s that Time Again!

My fundraising link is here. We’re raising money this month for cerebral palsy research!

The Intro/Gist of STEPtember

I’m taking part in the STEPtember challenge to raise funds and awareness for cerebral palsy research. I’ll be taking the equivalent of 10,000 steps a day for 30 days from September 1.

Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common lifelong physical disability in the world. One in 323 babies is diagnosed with CP in the US each year, and estimated related lifetime costs exceed $1.2 million per person.

Your support will help accelerate groundbreaking research into this underfunded condition. There are several vital research programs, including:

  • Training medical teams to detect cerebral palsy in babies as young as three months old, so they can get timely physical therapy.
  • Uncovering new chronic pain treatments and solutions for millions of people with CP.
  • Developing technology that will revolutionize communication for the millions of people with CP who can’t speak.

My STEPtember Patterns

I started participating a couple years ago, and this will be my 3rd year. It’s a good motivator to get my steps in and to do more workout videos and such. I’ve been doing more exercise in September than any other month in the year because I gotta count those steps! My work sent an email about the event and there are several of us in the organization that participate in STEPtember and it’s fun to see the weekly leaderboards (both in fundraising and step count equivalents). STEPtember does various raffles and donation matches which is really neat too. I won a gift card one year! Pretty awesome.

Great Cause

STEPtember supports research for cerebral palsy, which is a great cause. I’m really glad the team and the organization participates in something like this. Anyways, if you stumble across this post, please check it out
