Trader Joe’s Crispy Jalapeno Pieces – Small, but Addictive!

Another Trader Joe’s related post from me… this time it’s about their Crispy Jalapeno Pieces! A friend found them at her local TJ’s, and it took about a week for my local TJ’s to stock them. One jar is just not enough… these are more addictive than chips!

What are These?

TJ’s Crispy Jalapeno Pieces! These are pretty much breaded and fried jalapeno pieces. They aren’t all slices as the pieces are tiny.

What are These for?

The suggested usage is – sprinkle on mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, sushi, tacos, nachos or vegetable dishes. These crispy jalapeno pieces seem to be suggested for a topping to various foods to provide a small spice kick and a crunchy texture.

Taste/Texture/Frist Impressions

The packaging doesn’t look as nice or as cute as other TJ’s stuff, and I might have missed these if it weren’t for my friend. These come in a small 5.5 oz container with a red lid so they aren’t too difficult to spot if in stock. I expected these crisps to be a bit bigger, as some pieces are small jalapeno slices and others are more of crumbs, with most in between. They look like tempura’d jalapeno pieces, packaged, with its crispiness preserved. The texture tastes just like that – more so of crispy bits on various sushi rolls. Those are so good! The texture is crispy, and there’s a small spicy kick to them. I’ve only eaten them by itself and I’ve had half the container in one sitting already. Yep, these are that addictive!

Nutrition Facts

22 servings, huh? I’ve had 10 “servings” in a sitting, so I guess these really were meant to be a topper instead of a full blown snack. Anyways, not bad… 1 serving is 1 tbsp, which is 40 Calories, with 3g fat, 3g, carbs, and 0g protein. The whole jar is around 880 Calories, 66g fat, 66g carbs, and 0g protein. Hey, no added sugars! Trader Joe’s site provides the ingredients and whatnot.

The Photo and Actual Compared

Where are the jalapenos on the cover image on the container? They just look like chips. The actual has some greens, and I think the actuals look better than the photo/image in this case. The packaging doesn’t serve this product justice as these look and taste more amazing than the packaging looks.

Worth It?

Yes, if you enjoy tempura stuff and jalapenos! A container runs for $3 at the time I’m writing this, and I’d definitely buy again, similar to my other Trader Joe’s items that I’ve wrote about. I should try these as intended, but I enjoy these as chips. So addictive, so I need to be careful. Who knows… maybe its fattiness content from these will make me get over this after a few jars, but I’m enjoying my first jar of TJ’s crispy jalapeno pieces!
