Dinner Experience at Bouchon in Vegas- hardest part was finding it!

We’ve heard how popular and delicious food at Thomas Keller’s Bouchon is, and there’s various locations, and the first we try is in Vegas! The fam went here for dinner one night, and it was quite the adventure finding the restaurant. It’s definitely easier if you’re staying directly at the Venetian since you’re allowed up to the 10th floor via the various guest elevators. We weren’t staying at the Venetian so we had to find a separate elevator, sort of by the parking area. We definitely walked a long time finding it!

We got in, checked in for our reservation, and we were seated. The menus were paper folded.

Popular Spot

It wasn’t even prime dinner time, and the place was rather packed. Reservations at Bouchon are definitely a must! They do have brunch during the later parts of the week and the weekend; otherwise, they’re just opened for dinner. We were here on a Tuesday, so no brunch for us so we got a dinner reservation a couple weeks beforehand.

Their menus are folded, brown lunch bag style paper. Pretty neat. They recommend us scanning the QR code to look at the menus online, including the drink menus.

They bring the “free” bread to us while we look at the menus. Very pretty! Good bread too- the crisp on the outside, and the softness center. There was some fancy butter as well as some pistachios. No plates.
We order a couple cocktails and a red wine. Spoiler alert- I was the one that ended up drinking most of these 3 drinks. The cocktails were an old fashion and a French martini. Pretty good!
Their menu! We asked for their recommendations and they mentioned their signature dish is their chicken- the poulet roti! It sounded really good and we were gonna write it off cause it’s chicken, but since they’re well known for it and I was interested in the sides, we decided to try that along with other stuff.
Seared foie gras / foie gras saute. So cute and small, and we managed to cut this up to share. Good all together. Well thought ingredients that work well better together than individually.
Terrine de foie gras- we didn’t know which foie dish to try so we got both. This was more of a pate to spread on the baguettes. It didn’t look as great as the sear one, but we all enjoyed this one a bit more.
Escargots- they did a great job hiding the snails here. Parsley garlic butter with puff pastry. Had no idea snails were even in here lol. Rich and buttery goodness!

Individual and Family Style

We did family style, though more of the plates seem to be for individual. We just got more utensils so we can share to try a bit of everything. It worked out quite well!

Beef bourguignon – with potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, etc. Good flavor, but we weren’t a fan of the cut of the beef. I guess this kind of beef dish isn’t quite our thing, but still ok.
The signature dish- chicken! Poulet roti. I love maitake mushrooms aka hen of the woods, and these had some of that. We did enjoy this more than the beef. Tender chicken, tasted great for a non fried chicken dish.
Pomme puree! Potato puree. Nice and buttery. This went so great with the beef dish.

Food thoughts

We all expected everything to taste better, but we did have a good dinner experience at Bouchon in Vegas! Considering Vegas and French bistro pricing, the prices here aren’t too bad for what it is.

Dessert time! Here’s the dessert menu.
Profiteroles! These seemed popular on Yelp, and they were awesome. I don’t really like this type of pastry dough, but it was mostly ice cream so it was great. They poured some chocolate on top and left us with more so we can pour more as we see fit. Drinkable lol.
Macarons. Wow, these are larger macarons. Chocolate, passion fruits and pumpkin. Seasonal selections. Passion fruit one was great. Chocolate was ok. We all didn’t like pumpkin cause we just don’t prefer that flavor.
It was my belated birthday so they gave us a creme brûlée! Downside was it wasn’t great. The sugar topping wasn’t crunchy so we couldn’t even successfully do the spoon banging part. The custard was good tho.

Overall thoughts

This dinner was better than our dinner at Allegro the night before, but we preferred the rib eye beef at Allegro, but that’s cause it’s a different cut. Nice setting, good vibes. We enjoyed it, though we did expect a bit better. Perhaps our expectations are too high?

Going for Brunch

I’ll be back to try their brunch fairly soon, so I’ll report those findings/experience at some point!
