Daith and Conch on Same Ear – My New Piercing!
Check out my other posts about my piercings, including my initial daith piercing and more! This post is about my new piercing that I got a month ago as well as an update on healing my other piercings!
Second Conch Piercing
My first conch piercing was on my right ear and that one was alright for the most part. The piercing was a CRUNNNNCH which was a bit scary, but it didn’t cause any known issues. I knew I wanted one or 2 more on my left ear, but just went with one during my prior piercing appointment. Originally I was thinking of a flat and conch, but then went with just the conch.
Picking the Piece
Honestly, picking the jewelry for the piercing takes the longest. There are so many options and the piercer is so patient with what I want to see close to my ear and he has so many amazing suggestions of what would work and not work as well. During a prior appointment, we were looking at some smaller marquis ones. Downside of those are that they are diamond, which means $$$. He showed me the BVLA Eloise and I loved the color and shape as well. It wasn’t too small and it wasn’t too big either.
Overcrowding with Daith and Conch Piercings?
My ears are on the smaller side and there isn’t much real estate on them to get true constellation piercings and I was also afraid if I got a conch, it’d overcrowd the ear. If the piece is small enough, it can complement the daith quite well.
Conch Healing Comparisons
I developed a nasty bump with my right ear conch and a disk was put in there so that the jewelry didn’t irritate the bump further. My skin was rather sensitive to the disk that it didn’t get better, so I got the disk removed. It started to get a bit better thankfully. The area was rather raw so it was super important that I left it alone and kept it dry. This conch piercing was more of a quick sharp pain (no crunch sound) and it’s been healing more normally. My first conch swelled right before I was supposed to get downsized so I wasn’t able to downsize it then. This conch swelled after a week and reduced quickly after the swelling as well. So much better so far!
Blood and Crusties?
Oh yeah, there was some of that as well after a day or 2. I used the spray twice a day, but I’ve been so busy with work all of January that there were some days that I didn’t even use the saline spray. I guess my ears do get irritated when wet more so less spray helped me in this case? Anyways, the crusties/blood stuff softens and goes away with my every other day showering and blow drying my hair (and ears).
New Piercing Affecting Other Piercings
My faux rook did so badly after I got my helix pierced because the helix area swelled so much that the faux rook area swelled as well. I was worried that the conch swelling would do something similar, and it sort of did, but not nearly as bad. There wasn’t any room for my helix to move, but thankfully I didn’t have to switch to a longer bar or anything. The conch did swell that I felt the backing against the back of my ear, but again, not as bad as my helix after that was pierced. What is strange is that my faux rook started to have some crusties and stuff, so hopefully that will heal up again.
Downsizing?
Oh yes, it’s time for my new conch to get downsized! It’s doing pretty well so hopefully the piercer agrees and I’d get my normal downsize during my appointment soon.
Other Piercings Update
My daith has never been better. The bumps have gone away and stayed away. Sometimes they would come when I irritate it by crashing into something or sleeping on it with pressure. It took 8 months to be bump free! I can’t wait to wear a conch hoop on my first conch (right ear), so maybe another 6 – 8 months before I can do that. Yay, exciting stuff.
