Fitness Journal – Day 7 of 90 and Week 1 Recap!
Huzzah! Day 7 of this 90 day journey completed, meaning week 1 is completed! I’m so proud of myself to be blogging each day and to complete the assigned Blogilates workouts for one whole week. What a record!
Morning
I woke up earlier than I would have liked this morning because of a couple things – (1) I had to get up to pee (so annoying!) and (2) the pups were loud. Our newly rescue pup, Snowy, is not really trained and we’ve noticed that she would pee wherever if she isn’t taken out soon in the morning and after car rides. Snowy wasn’t quite trained to be walked on a leash, so it was quite the struggle to put on her harness and leash the first few days.
Brief Outdoor Walk
I walked both Mochi and Snowy first thing in the morning to reduce the probability of Snowy peeing on the carpet, rug, or piece of clothing. We just walked down our block and back up. Funny enough, both dogs ran upstairs back to bed to bug the husband right after doing their business during their quick walk.
Breakfast and Unexpected
I made myself an omelette with cheese for breakfast again, and had my usual Stumptown brewed coffee. The kids woke up shortly afterwards, and the son had a rather bad bloody nose. Quite a bit of blood and tissues, and a lot of time for it to stop. I had those all the time as a kid, and it got better when I legally became an adult. He’s used to them, but unfortunately, sometimes they come at the worst times, such as before we’re going to go somewhere or during class.
Early Afternoon and Lunch
I managed to get the first 2 workout videos in before going out to pick up lunch. The videos were –
- Apartment Friendly Warmup – not quite ab focused for ab day today, but I loved that it was only ~3 minutes long (less Cassey intro and after the workout portion).
- 10 Minute Beautiful Ab Sculpt Pilates Workout – I really needed this to strengthen my weak core. I have so much trouble doing moves targeting the lower abs. Ugh… I shall get better.
Lunch and Boba!
The husband received a CPK reward where you spend $15, you get a free take & bake pizza. We had a $50 gift card, so we ended up ordering a full meal to go. We got the carne asada pizza, roasted veggie salad, crispy chicken (for the daughter), and kids pepperoni pizza (for the son). The pick-up was around 30 minutes late, which was frustrating because the husband went out to pick up the food and I was waiting in the car with the 2 pups the whole time.
We headed to ShareTea to pick up some milk tea drinks after picking up CPK. Ahh, milk tea… so addictive!
Grocery Shopping
The pandemic has had me get so excited for my weekly grocery shopping trips. We went to Trader Joe’s today and bought a lot of good stuff! In addition to various wines, we picked up some foods to cook this week, frozen foods, snacks, and more. I picked up some yogurt, cheese, smoked salmon, and apples to include some healthier options in my breakfasts and to add more diversity to the Trader Joe’s frozen foods I heat up for breakfast. Their soup dumplings, philly cheesesteak buns, and hash browns were added to my cart anyways. Frozen foods last a while, so some of it may last till next week or something. I also picked up some apples to incorporate some fruit. The mangos (yum) were tempting, but they were sort of small and $1.50 each was a bit steep for me.
New Snack
I saw some everything bagel flavored pretzel thins, and decided to buy a bag to try. TJ’s has a kettle everything bagel chip that I tried last month, but they were a bit strange. Flavor was alright, but the texture was all wrong. They had some kind of stale-like texture to most of the chips, and the workers that were talking one day mentioned the same thing. These pretzel thins were consistent on the texture, nice and crispy.
Early Evening and Dinner
I did the remaining 2 videos for the day, and they were –
- 20 minute waist whittler – wow, I was struggling. I feel it wouldn’t be as difficult on a different day, but I was really struggling today. I was tired quickly and modified for most of it in addition to taking it a bit slow.
- Insane abs & obliques workout – sweet, this one was just around 6 minutes of workout time! This one started out fine, but got difficult toward the end. It was good though!
We heated our free BBQ chicken take & bake pizza and some left overs for dinner. The pizza was good, but I think I prefer when the establishment cooks it. I treated myself to some wine, which felt so good tonight – such a good way to end the weekend.
Day 7 Intake and Thoughts
There it is – above is what I logged for the day. I’m proud of myself for adding an apple to today’s eats since I keep forgetting to eat fruits unless my parents give me some. They eat fruit everyday around 3 or 4PM, and that is a rather good habit to ease into. I’m looking at the picture above and realized I did not record certain things I’ve had, plus some beverage nutrition. Oh well, it was overall a good day before going back to work tomorrow.
Week 1 Reflections
There are pages for measurements and weight in the 90 day fitness journal, but I’m not really utilizing that portion. The only measurement I’d like to see decreased is my belly as it’s extremely stubborn. One of my main goals is to get stronger and to exercise regularly, while not-so-secretly hoping to obtain a flat/un-bloated belly. I’m not interested in weight loss for myself since I want to gain muscle, but it’s so difficult! My weight has been consistent since high school, with exceptions during my pregnancies. Hopefully it’ll be maintained naturally, but in case my metabolism does slow down significantly, I’d like to develop good habits now to further maintain my weight and these habits in the future.
My “diet” consists of more processed foods and sodium content that I’d like, and I’d really like to work my way toward eating a bit more nutritiously. Slow steps though… I’ll try to maintain a habit to exercise first, and then eating better will come along with it. I will definitely not forget to treat myself from time to time though!
Week 1 Recap!
Not bad for the first week! I managed to get in all the workouts and record my day to day on this blog. I do think texting my best friend I’m doing this with helps both our accountabilities though.
