Major Respect to my Piercer as Putting on Threaded Earrings Yourself is no Easy Feat!

Happy One Year to My Daith Piercing!

It’s been slightly a bit over a year since I got my daith piercing, an it’s been doing great! I can comfortably sleep on that side again. There’s been periods of irritation, piercing bumps, swelling, leaks, slight migration, etc., but overall, the past few months have been smooth sailing.

Follow-up Post

There’s been various rambles re my piercings and jewelry buying, so this post will summarize how my piercings have been healing as well as my other mystery item purchased from Maison Miru.

These was the “premium” mystery item I’ve received. Don’t think I’ll wear them… ever… unfortunately!

Maison Miru Sample Sale – Mystery Items Part 2

Part 1 is here, where I wrote about the mystery items I’ve received during their sample sale. It was a bit disappointing that the earrings received were silver, but the good news is that they were mostly different and did come to good use. My daughter liked them so now they are on her ears! Anyways, I bought more sample items, including more mystery threaded flat back earrings and a premium mystery item. The premium item was $30, but the value would be $90+ or so.

What I Got – Hint: Disappointment!

I ordered 6 more mystery flat back earrings, but got all gold plus half one gage and half another gage (18 and 16?). The mystery threaded flat back earrings were repeats as I got the same design for the 18g and the 16g – 2 pave lightning, 2 pave moon, and 2 tiny trinity. The “premium” mystery item looked so cheap as they were silver colored hook earrings. They had butterfly backs, which suck?? Anyways, I looked up the price and they are worth $130. Unbelievable!!! Also a 2 star review, so I definitely got ripped off with this premium mystery item. Looks to be a huge mark up as I wouldn’t even pay $1 for these.

Piercing Status – My Piercing Healing Journey Follow-up

  • Daith – what a journey with this one. Definitely a finicky piercing. It was painless (just a lot of pressure) thankfully, and the first month of healing was great – no bumps, etc., but then the irritation bumps formed. It looked pretty bad and a piercer in Vegas was surprised since I had BVLA jewelry which was top of the line and was told usually this stuff happens with not so great jewelry. Anyways, I kept my cleaning method (the saline spray and leaving it alone), and it eventually healed after a while. Then some more bumps formed, and healed again. It was fully healed at the 8  – 9 month mark, and I picked out a more simple and smaller hoop from my piercer and he changed that earring for me. It looks more balanced now as the ring prior was a bit too large after slight migration. It did get a bit irritated that week, but it’s been great shortly afterwards!
  • Faux Rook – I got this piecing the same time as my daith. Due to various points of swelling, I had to switch to a longer bar after downsizing as my helix swelled pretty badly that it affected my faux rook. It developed bumps from the bar being too short after the swelling, but it went away pretty quickly. The earring also fell out once when I was in the shower, so I was really thankful that it didn’t go down the drain. Would really suck losing BVLA jewelry! The earring was so tiny. I was able to put the bar through the hole, but had the husband help me screw the end back on.
  • Helix – This one caused so many issues for some reason! Easiest to get hit and easiest for hair to catch on. Wearing my hair up helped with the healing process, but it did get super swollen and it bled at various times too. A large-ish bump formed and it popped and re-formed. So gross. That area would randomly bleed and leak fluids, but I continued on and it eventually healed very well.
  • Flat – This piercing probably healed the quickest out of my cartilage piercings. It did have a sucky part where a bump formed on the back, but once that went away, it was super smooth. My flat was pierced with a thicker gage and it’s pretty cool seeing the hole when I removed the earring. My ear on that area is really thin so the standard size posts are a bit too long for this piercing and I’ll need to look for shorter bars.
  • Conch – I have one on each ear, and they both had similar healing journeys! Both formed annoying red filled bumps and both swelled around the 5 week mark. They were both slow to heal, but they eventually healed. I suppose they are still healing since it was a bit more difficult to get the post in and see the hole in comparison to my faux rook and flat piercings.

Threaded flat back instructions from Maison Miru

Threaded and Threadless Earrings

Some earrings I was pierced with are threaded and some are threadless. Threaded earrings are the ones with the tiny screw-like thingy on the end that screws into the bar. Threadless earrings is a pushpin style where you slightly bend the thin thingy connected to the end and push it into the bar.

Massive Respect to my Piercer!!! (And all that can put in threaded earrings quickly)

Threaded earrings are such a pain!!! I decided to change up my earrings, and the threaded ones took so long. I kept dropping the ends or I would think I got it in, but actually didn’t. It took such a long time, so major respect to those that can get this done seamlessly. The threadless ones were much easier. I could just pull those out and push those back in so those took far less time than the threaded earrings.

The end’s “screw” is very tiny, and the end (decorative part of the earring) is very small as well!

Need More Threadless Earrings

I need more of those push style earrings as those are way easier! They both have pros and cons though as the thin piece may break with wear and tear. Threadless earrings seem a bit more stable if tight as threaded earrings can screw out if you don’t check them every so often. If made correctly and screwed on properly the first time, they should stick on, but when it comes to shapes that aren’t as even, they can unscrew rather easily.

My re-arrangement of earrings and such

Must Save for More BVLA Pieces!

I can finally wear a hoop on my conch, though I am waiting for a part to “dry” out or heal perhaps? It’s been feeling great with the simple hoop for several days, and I’d love to get thicker looking BVLA hoop with the proper fit for this conch. BVLA is $$$$ so I may need to wait until next year or so before I get some more pieces!
