Sundays Food for Dogs – Convenient Food Mochi Enjoys!

Word of Mouth

Sundays Food for Dogs was recommended to me by a friend on FB. My friend has a small dog that is extremely picky like mine, and mentioned that Sundays had a sale going on. She mentioned that her small pup enjoys Sundays, but warned me that because it is quite expensive, she primarily uses it as casual treats for her pup.

Ordering Process

The ordering process was quite simple. I got a rather good deal – half off a 40oz box, plus two smaller boxes with our pet’s photo on them. The cost of the food is normally $79 for a 40oz box, or $59 if you subscribe and save. I think signing up automatically signs you up for a subscription, but that can be canceled. I made a purchase and it arrived a few weeks later. They were probably very busy.

The Package

The packaging was gorgeous! It came in a yellow box with Sundays’s logo, and it was amazing inside too. The contents of the box included: the 40oz box of food packaged separately with a resealable plastic bag inside the box, a sheet of stickers (SO CUTE!!!), suggested feeding schedule to wean your dog off their current food, and a newspaper with Sundays news and other dog news. I am unsure whether this is what the packaging is like on subsequent boxes or if it’s just nice packaging for the first box. I have a scheduled order for the middle February, so I might write an update post to talk more on my Sundays experience.

Dog Food Look

LOL, the dog food looks just like dog treats! I really did laugh when I saw how Sundays Food for Dogs looked since Mochi is crazy about treats. It looks different than the kibbles and refrigerated dog foods we’ve tried.

Servings

Mochi is a 9 pound dog, so she’s pretty small. Sundays’s recommendation was to serve 1/4 cup twice a day while she gets used to the food, but our plan was to just to put a little bit on top of her regular food each time since Sundays is pricier than the food she usually eats (we buy fresh ingredients and cook her food and freeze the batch).

Mochi’s Reaction

Mochi was so excited when I opened the bag of Sundays! The husband and I gave her a bit to try in a bowl, and she inhaled it right away and quickly asked for more. She’s been excited about new foods before, so this initial reaction wasn’t a surprise. To our surprise, instead of getting bored with it after a few days like she usually does, Mochi kept eating her Sundays for the entire month! I hope she will eat her second batch of Sundays when it arrives some time in February. That will really determine whether we continue with the Sundays subscription.

Worth It?

It is a bit too early to tell since it’s just been one month, but compared to other packaged foods Mochi has tried, yes, it’s worth it because she’s kept up with eating Sundays instead of getting bored of it quickly as she did with other packaged foods. Also, Sundays is very convenient because its use is similar to kibble – just open the bag and pour the food out, then reseal the bag. It’s so simple! Mochi has tried some “fancy” refrigerated dog foods and pre-cooked stuff in the past, but she didn’t want to be near that stuff within a couple days, so Sundays has been amazing.

Ingredients

The ingredients listed on Sundays are –
USDA Beef, Beef Heart, Beef Liver, Beef Bone, Quinoa, Pumpkin, Wild Salmon Oil, Sunflower Oil, Zucchini, Kale, Flaxseed, Sea Salt, Parsley, Kelp, Chicory Root, Turmeric, Mixed Tocopherols, Ginger, Selenium Yeast, Blueberries, Carrots, Apples, Tomatoes, Shiitake Mushrooms, Broccoli, Oranges, Cranberries, Spinach, Beets, Tart Cherries, and Strawberries.

Mochi’s Reaction

Mochi is prone to get diarrhea especially after consuming a large amount of foods, notably chunks of meat. It is rather common for dogs to get diarrhea when they suddenly switch to a new diet. However, despite us not weaning Mochi off her old food, she did not get diarrhea from Sundays! Awesome!

Extra Stuff

The regular box of Sundays is yellow with a picture of a dog. There is a personalization option to get mini boxes of Sundays with your dog’s image on the mini boxes. My promo box came with 2 of these mini boxes for free, and they are so adorable! I’ll definitely keep these boxes and not toss them in recycling. I was surprised when I learned the personalized boxes typically run for ~$20, though. That’s a bit too extravagant for me, so I’m really happy to have jumped on board with Sunday’s Black Friday promotion!
