Tous Les Jours – Earl Grey Latte Cloud Cake Review
As you know, I love cake and there doesn’t have to be an occasion to enjoy some good cake. The recent new cake I tried was Tous Les Jour’s Earl Grey Latte Cloud Cake. I haven’t had an earl grey cake before, so I was super excited to try this cake.
SUPER Light Cake!
I went to the Tous les Jours in Dublin, CA. No pre-order or anything. I was in the mood for some cake so I checked out which small cakes were available. It’d serve my family plus a couple guests for Sunday lunch. One of the workers there was telling me that their blueberry yogurt cake was the most popular one and that is followed by a chocolate mousse cake. I’ve tried the blueberry cake in the past, and also their mango cloud cake as well. I wasn’t in the mood for a chocolate cream cake, and when she mentioned earl grey, I was like oh yeah, I haven’t had an earl grey cake before so I went for that one.
$35 Later
The cake was $35 (March 2023). I paid and she boxed it up for me, put a “happy birthday” chocolate on it, etc., and I took the box. It was SOOOO light!! It felt no cake was in there. Literally a cloud cake??
All That Cream… YUM!
The cream throughout is more of a whipped cream style cream, hence the lightness of the cake. My daughter and I enjoy this style and we both love whipped cream. The husband likes the super sweet thicker icing and frosting stuff, and doesn’t like whipped cream at all… so this was definitely not the cake for him!
Amazing Balance
We all liked that the cake wasn’t too sweet. It was really light and the amount of cream does look like a lot, but it was a great balance between that and the cake. I usually leave some of my frosting on the plate because it gets too much, but I ate all of it when it came to this cake. The scent is earl grey, and there is a subtle hint of earl grey flavor within the cake. Not overpowering or anything. I can’t wait to try more cake!
