Harry & David – Heritage Chocolate Assortment Review

My bestie gifted me a box of Harry and David chocolates to share with my fam, and we were all rather pleased! She also sent a box with pears, apples, and cheese, but that post will be coming up soon. This one is about the Harry and David chocolate review, specifically their Heritage Chocolate assortment.

Packaging

It’s a nice compact box that that contains 15 pieces of chocolates. The box is good quality, and it comes with the “bringing you the best since 1934” thingy. This is my first Harry & David item ever received, but I’ve heard of the company and seen various attorneys at prior jobs received gift baskets from them.

Chocolate Flavors

Nicely labeled with photos on the side of the box. This chocolate box contains 15 chocolates, an assortment of dark chocolate raspberry truffles, dark chocolate truffles, double chocolate truffles, and dulce de leche chocolate. There are 3 each of the raspberry, dark chocolates, double chocolates, and 6 of the dulce de leche.

Chocolate Shapes

The truffles are generically shaped – roundish with some design on top that distinguishes one flavor from another. The prettiest one is the dulce de leche, which is shaped as pears. SO CUTE!!!!

Couldn’t Wait

I said I’d open the box and have some after dinner, but I did it before dinner! Dinner took a bit long to my defense, so we enjoyed a bit of each of the 4 flavors beforehand. Even the dogs were excited about the box, but thankfully for the protective plastic around it!

Taste and Such

The quality of these harry and david chocolates were pretty good! Only one truffle was cracked upon arrival, which didn’t affect the taste. The truffles all tasted as advertised. All other than the dulce de leche had more of the typical soft yet solid-ish interior. The dulce de leche had a more liquid-y interior. All were delicious.

Shared with my Family

I brought the rest of the chocolates to my parents’ place and shared some with them, my grandfather, and my brother. All of them thought the chocolates were good too. My brother was pleasantly surprised, and his chocolate taste is quite difficult to please. Very good sign! He does like typical chocolate truffles, so that helped too.

Worth It?

Based on the taste and presentation alone, I’d say these are worth it. I got them as a gift, so I can’t say much about the price and whatnot. I’d like of there was a more even distribution in the chocolates as there were 6 of the caramel/dulce de leche ones and 3 each of the others. All were good, and I enjoyed the dulce de leche shape the best anyways.
