Trader Joe’s Milk Chocolate Bar with Corn Flakes Review

This Spring has been a pretty good season for new Trader Joe’s items. I’ve been re-buying items, such as the seaweed tempura snacks when available. Out of 5 bags eaten, 1 was below standards. The other were consistent and super yummy, but one bag lacked the flavor and was crunchier than the others. Still good, but not as great. Anyways, the new TJ’s item I tried was their milk chocolate bar with corn flakes!

First Impressions

Holy moly, that is one thick chocolate bar! It’s well weighted and nice to hold and justifies the $3 price tag a bit more.

Not Uniform Breakable Pieces

The corn flakes chocolate bar felt great, but it was obvious the breakage parts are not uniform. It’s pretty to that sense, but makes splitting into non-full bar shapes a bit ore difficult. More the reason to have more of this chocolate!

Unwrapped the outer layer packaging. Look at that foil!
The breakage shapes.

Easily Meltable

This corn flakes chocolate bar melts easily. It isn’t really a warm day today and it is pretty cool indoors, and just touching the chocolate, I feel it melting already.

Taste and Texture

That’s some smooth melt chocolate with awesome texture. The top part of the chocolate is mostly the milk chocolate and is rather smooth, and the bottom of the chocolate contains the textured bits. I ended up really enjoying this chocolate bar, though I’m more of a dark chocolate person as opposed to milk chocolate. The corn flakes add in a bit of saltiness that complements the chocolate and the texture gives it the crunch that makes this chocolate bar rather exciting.

The thickness!
Back of the chocolate. The textural goodness is all here!

Versatile Corn Flakes

Corn flakes or cornflakes? Anyways, this cereal tends to be in so many things / has quite a few uses other than it being a breakfast cereal. Cereal milk ice cream (thank you Christina Tosi / Milk Bar) for introducing me this this concept and adding cornflake crumbles is rather delicious. Cornflakes can be used as a breading as well (hello Top Chef!). Humphry Slocombe makes a pretty delicious corn flake crunch ice cream. Corn flakes on its own can be a bit plain, but adding it or using it in other stuff makes it pretty amazing!

More Variations?

I only saw the milk chocolate bar with corn flakes and didn’t see a dark chocolate variation of this chocolate bar / corn flake chocolate. My preference is dark chocolate and if TJ’s release a dark chocolate variation, I’ll definitely try that!

Look at that awesomeness

Worth It?

Hells yes. I’d buy this again until I get sick of it. I was surprised I liked this corn flake chocolate bar so much because it’s milk chocolate, but the texture in both the smooth chocolate and crunchy-ish bits won me over. I’m not fond of how easily it melts and I’m not too sure how I feel about the breakage points not being even in shape, but as a whole, it was pretty pretty delicious.
