Trader Joe’s Thai Rice Noodle Snacks – Crispy, Sweet, Tart, and Savory!

Another Trader Joe’s snack! YESSS!! I made a quick TJ’s trip to see if they had any more of their Ube ice cream and since they did, I bought a few of those because my mom mentioned she couldn’t find any at her local TJ’s, so I’ll being a pint over next time I see her. Within that trip, I ended up buying some other snacks and this Trader Joe’s Thai rice noodle snacks was one of them!

Trader Joe’s Mee Krob Snackers

They call them their mee krob snackers. I found them by the chips section. They also say Thai rice noodle snacks as well as including a picture of what this snack is. Without it, I’d probably wouldn’t know what it was.

The packaging

Gluten Free, but Contains Cashews

These mee krob snackers are gluten free and are advertises as crispy, sweet, tart & savory. Not spicy as I thought they would be based on packaging coloring and because I like my Thai noodles spicy. They are gluten free, but they also contain cashews.

Nutritional facts, ingredients, etc.

$3 for a Bag

These Thai rice noodle snacks are around $3 for a bag (as of July 2023), so more of a premium chips pricing. Pretty standard for these types of things at Trader Joe’s.

Let’s Dig In!

I imagined these as small squares that you can pop in your mouth, just like popping chips in your mouth, and I was so wrong!

Inside the bag. Pretty big squares here!

First Time Having Mee Krob

This TJ’s snack is my first exposure to mee krob, so perhaps these are the standard size and similar taste of the real thing? These appear to be something that will look pretty good on a plate to be served as appetizers or something to be enjoyed with tea. I could be so wrong, but I’d enjoy these in that sense!

Large chunks, definitely one of those few bites kind of snacks per piece.

Alternative Packaging?

Somehow when I saw how these looked, I thought of a plastic or plastic-like container with these stacked on top of each other. Anyways, the packaging here is rather bright and stands out so it makes sense to how this design was chosen.

Taste and Such

The crunchy part was pretty good. Gotta eat them before they lose their crunch! Definitely salty, but not too salty. I thought the sweetness to these wasn’t so bad as it balanced some of its other flavors such as some ginger aspects and the salt, but the husband was surprised by how sweet these were to him. I suppose if sweet snacks turn you off, these wouldn’t be for you.

Seems larger than the image displayed!

Buy Again?

Probably… it isn’t one of those OMG SO GOOD, MUST GET MORE snacks. I liked these, but didn’t really love them. If I want something with cashews and some savory multi-flavor snack that requires a few bites to eat, sure. Otherwise, I’d stick with some TJ’s snacks that I enjoy more.
