Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak Vegas – 3 Course Menu Review!

As of June 2023, the 3 course menu wasn’t really clear of what it consists of, so I asked how it worked when a couple friends and I dined at Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak in Vegas!!

Not All Need to Participate – Great Way to Try a Variety of Steaks and More!

That’s right! Not everyone at the table needs to partake in the 3 course menu if one person wants to go that route. If you have a party of 5 and only want to get 3 of the 3 course menus and all 5 share, that’s fine as well! These “rules” or lack of rules is true as of June 2023 and hopefully they stay that way!

We were a party of 3, and they gave us a couple of these free breads with butter. Really nice!

What’s Included in the 3 Course Option?

The pricing is by which steak you’d like to get, and you’ll get the following in total within the 3 course option –

  • Appetizer – can choose between a good selection of appetizers! There are also some “premium” options that you can get if you pay an additional $10 or $15 or so, such as the charcuterie board.
  • Side – either one of their Potatoes, grains, veggie options.
  • The Steak – whichever steak you choose from the options. The steak you choose determines the price.
  • Dessert – ok, so 4 courses? YESSSS!! Variety of desserts to choose from after your meal.

Start of the Meal

Rather elegant yet chill vibe here and no pressure to dress superfine as the standard no open toe, no swimwear, etc. will do. We were seated after we checked in for our reservation and we were given our bread and water. Drink menus were presented to us so we had some time to take a look and order drinks before we ordered our food.

19th on Fab, Smoldering Temptress, and a Watermelon mocktail.

Our Cocktails

  • 19th on Fab – Jalapeño Infused Tequila, Cointreau, Passion Fruit. I asked the server what he recommended and he asked if I liked spicy and I said yep, so this one was recommended to me. Pretty good! Just a hint of the jalapeño, a bit sweet.
  • Smoldering Temptress – Dewar’s 15, Papa’s Pilar 24yr Solera, Five Spice Syrup, Angostura Bitters, Applewood Smoke Infused. Smokey cocktail here!

Let’s Get Into Our Meal!

We decided to do two of the 3 course menus for us to share, so we got to pick 2 appetizers, 2 steaks, 2 potatoes/grains/veggies, and 2 desserts! Here they are. Enjoy!!

Burrata - with hazelnuts and roasted peppers. It’s just what is pictured. No crackers or anything that comes with it. The server tried to talk us out of the burrata because it was small, but we love burrata. He recommended the Caesar salad, but we choose burrata over salad. The burrata itself was pretty good. It was so much better than the burrata we had at Scarpetta the other night!
Wagyu Tartare - with crostini. OK, I wish I got a photo of this BEFORE it was mixed up as this doesn’t look appetizing at all. We used some of the crostini with our burrata. Anyways, this beef tartare was pretty good! Nice texture and not an overpowering flavor, and that crostini crunch added to it texture-wise as well.
Japanese A5 Wagyu - we were given a choice between a strip cut or a ribeye cut. I personally enjoy ribeye a lot more, but the strip cut was recommended, so we went with that one. $350, but if this one was by itself, it’d be $320 so it’s one of the most “worth it” options if you’re doing the 3 course menu. SOOO GOOD!!! We all love Wagyu steak, especially the Japanese A5 ones. So much better than the domestic Wagyu we tried at the Morimoto MGM Grand restaurant. Japanese A5 all the way from now on. Yum yum yum.
Ribeye, bone in - this would be the Double R Beef section in the 3 course menu, and just the beef section for the steak itself. The ribeye wasn’t good in comparison to the wagyu above, but it is a solid piece of steak. Not as fatty as the ribeye I love so that’s a downside.
Potato Purée - yummy!! Very smooth, amazing texture throughout. Great flavor. How much butter is in this? A delicious amount.
Mushroom Risotto - OMG, such high hopes for this one because Tom critiques risotto a lot on Top Chef, but the thing is we critiqued this risotto!!! Other than the physical pieces of mushrooms, this was extremely BLAND. No mushroom flavor was infused through the risotto itself. How disappointing. Hopefully it was just an off one we got, but ughhhh… need a re do at some point.

Dessert Time!

We were getting a bit full at this point so we were so glad we didn’t get 3 of these 3 course menus to share! Dessert menus came after we finished our food and we got to choose between chocolate cake, cheesecake, cinnamon monkey bread, ice cream and sorbet, and crème brûlée. Though choice in a sense, but we ended up going with the cinnamon monkey bread and the crème brûlée.

Cinnamon monkey bread with pecan toffee and vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was more or less standard, and the cinnamon monkey bread itself was really good. Excellent mixed with the ice cream.
Creme Brûlée - with powdered sugar and various berries. Crack crack, yum yum custard under the sugar.

Worth It?

We had a great time here! I personally was disappointed in the ribeye and the mushroom risotto, but everything else was really delicious. A bit pricey, but that Japanese A5 wagyu steak as the 3 course menu itself was worth it compared to ordering that plus the appetizer and side (and dessert) separately. Drinks were good and the setting was nice as well. I’d definitely go back, but would like to try some other Vegas restaurants before I do so!
