Green Chef – Another Meal Prep Review

Green Chef would be my 3rd meal prep review! My first was Hello Fresh, and my second was Purple Carrot. I heard about Green Chef through Ibotta, as they were offering $35 cash back. Here’s my Green Chef review and feedback.

What is Green Chef?

Green Chef is another meal prep service, and this one focuses on your lifestyle. They have various types, such as keto+paleo, balanced living, and plant-powered.

First Meal – Roasted Chicken with Lemon Crema

The recipe can be found here. My thoughts are captioned with the image below.

Small-ish portion size IMO, and I' not a fan of chicken breast mostly... the veggies were delicious though. The recipe mentions it comes with some Parmesan cheese, but we did not receive any, so we used our own. Ugh, LOL. Wouldn't be interested in making this one again.

Second Meal – Paprika-Turmeric Tomato Pork Chops

The recipe can be found here. My thoughts are captioned with the image below.

Surprisingly, this was the best recipe out of the 3! The portion was better as there was quite a bit of kale, and the pork was pretty good, especially with the tomato sauce. The recipe says a portion is 800 Calories, which was more than the other 2 recipes. Not quite sure how, but this one was newer to us since we don't normally cook pork chops. Pretty good. The husband and I would have this one again.

Third Meal – Spiced Tilapia with Avocado-Lime Crema

Recipe can be found here. My thoughts are captioned with the image below.

This one was pretty good too! The avocado-lime crema really helped with the fish since the fish itself was a bit bland minus the spice crust. The veggies were similar to the chicken recipe, but I do like the red bell peppers. Slightly fewer Calories at 750 compared to the pork chops. I'd eat this one again.

Final Thoughts

The service and such was rather standard compared to other meal prep services. Delivery was as stated, but I am disappointed that we were missing some ingredients. We were missing the cheese from the chicken recipe, and the pork chop recipe said yellow squash, and we got a zucchini. They did say color may vary, but it was still interesting. The service itself is rather expensive – full price would have been over $80 for 3 meals for 2 people ($87.93 without add-ons, so close to $15 a serving). I’m not sure if that even includes shipping! I only tried because Ibotta was giving $35 cash back, and you do get a credit for the first several shipments, similar to the other meal plan services. I paid around $42 for these meals, so a net of $7 for these.
