Anthropologie – Cropped Trench Coat, Maeve Blazer, Mother Jeans Review!
I was going through my Anthropologie order history, and saw that I was an Anthro Perks member since 2012 – I’ve been shopping at Anthropologie several times a year for over a decade! WOW!!!
Recent “Haul” – Sale Section After Holidays
Most of my items from Anthro are from their sale section, notably when they’re doing a 40% or 50% off on top of their sale items. The greater than 40% off sale doesn’t happen too often during the year, but if I’m able to find stuff I like and fits me, I luck out for getting items at a great price.
3 New Black Items – Pants, Blazer, Cropped Coat
I gravitate toward black a lot when it comes to clothing, especially pants. My main tops and jackets are also black. Wow, I need to switch it up, but black looks great and it’s extra safe.
First Pair of MOTHER Jeans – Mother Jeans Review
I’ve seen the Mother jeans brand for a long time, but full price at over $200 for a pair seems to be too much. My curiosity got the better of me when I saw a pair of black mother jeans on sale and there was another 50% off on top of the sale. I got these in my usual size and when they came in the mail, my first thought was wow ok, I thought they would feel a bit better. I tried them on and they felt alright, but a bit long since I’m petite, though they are supposed to hit at the ankle. A bit lower on me, but luckily they don’t drag on the floor.
Mother Jeans Feel
They do feel pretty good on, but not the best jeans I’ve had on. The color is pure black, which I appreciate since I keep wearing my other black jeans/pants all the time so it’s nice to have another one.
Pet Hair Gets Stuck Easily!
This is one of my biggest frustrations as the material attracts pet hairs. My 3 small white pups furs get on these pants and it’s visibly shown at all times. A bit frustrating to keep removing pet hairs, so I’m unsure what it is about the material that does this.
Maeve Blazer
Anthro’s Maeve brand is pretty neat. My first Anthropologie dress was Maeve brand, and I still have that dress in my closet. I have a black blazer from Ann Taylor, but it’s shorter than this one. The photo looked good and they had my size, so I added that to cart and checked out.
Maeve Blazer Fit and Feel
They did advertise this as a slim blazer and it is slim indeed. I did gain a bit over the years as I left my prior job and moved back to CA, but most items in this size still fit me, so I think it’s more of the slim advertisement. I can’t really button it comfortably, but that’s OK since I like the unbuttoned look. The feel is a bit rough, but will it soften up over time? The stiff-ish feeling doesn’t bother me as this blazer still looks pretty great.
Ugh, more Pet Furs!
Similar to the Mother jeans, this blazer attracts pet furs as well, a lot more than my other black blazer. Interesting…
Cropped Trench Coat / Jacket
I’ve actually been looking for a nice coat that feels great and is also not too long because I’m just 5’0”. The trench coat style looked pretty cute and I saw a shortened one from Burberry, but it was way too expensive for me. I saw the one above from Anthropologie and the design looked rather cute so I bought it as it looked great and it was on sale on top of a sale.
Feel and Fit
This less-than-half coat feels pretty darn great! Soft, and the inside isn’t at all itchy. Very comfortable that I wore it all day one day. The fit is loose as there’s some room to wear it unbuttoned and also buttoned. It is rather cropped and I would like it more if it were longer, but I suppose this is the style.
Yup… More Pet Furs!
Just as the other black items I bought, this cropped trench coat also attracts so much pet hairs. My lint rollers will be on full duty the more I wear these items!
Final Thoughts
Very interesting how the 3 clothing items I bought recently were all black and all of them attracts pet furs. None of these are returns, and I’m so happy I got these on sale and another 50% off on top of that. I wouldn’t be buying if these were full price as these aren’t perfect fits, but they’ve definitely been worn here and there and won’t stay unworn in my closet.
