Maison Miru Gift Review – Siren Cartilage Hoop

Wow, this month really flew by! Since my prior piercing update, I’ve since gotten another conch piercing on my other ear, so I’m up to 7 on my left ear. One of my coworkers discussed piercings with me as one of her teenage children was interested about getting their ears pierced, and I think I convinced her that piercing guns are a no-no.

Amazing Gift

This coworker has excellent taste and she seems to be such a great gift-er. She got me the Tea Forte gift set last year and a macaron book the year prior, which was absolute eye-candy. Anyways, this year, she got me Maison Miru’s siren cartilage hoop earring in titanium, gold plated, 18g for healed cartilage piercings.

My Exposure to Maison Miru

I’ve come across Maison Miru in an ad before and the products look really cute. I like how they have earrings that look really good and that they are meant to be worn 24/7. Unfortunately, as much as I’d love to change my jewelry, it isn’t something I do often, so I didn’t order anything from them that time I checked them out.

OK Price Point

My pierced cartilage jewelry is all BVLA and BVLA is very expensive, but there is some sort of lifetime warranty. Maison Miru’s prices are a LOT cheaper, but a lot more expensive than the casual jewelry from department stores. Stores typically sell earrings in pairs, but a lot of the ones from Maison Miru and “professional” piercing jewelry places sell them by the single.

Maison Miru Gift Packaging

The package came in the box displayed in the photos here, notably the header photo on top of this post. It’s pretty cute! It features some of their earring shapes, such as heart, star, moon, and lightning bolt. Very pleased with the box that stood out. Inside contains a bright blue lining that fits other jewelry. It minds me of some kind of jewelry box. The earring is placed in a plastic bag with their logo.

When Will I Wear?

The earring design is really cute, and it does remind me of one of BVLA’s hoop designs. In fact, a lot of Maison Miru’s pieces have some sort of BVLA near-identical pieces as well… are they just common designs that many brands carry, or….? ANYWAYS, I can’t wear this piece just yet. I’ll go so well on my helix piercing and I’m really excited to get to the point where I can wear hoops there with ease. My helix isn’t fully healed yet, so I don’t want to take out my flat back to put on a hoop just yet. I’ll definitely try it on when I’m able to, but cartilage piercings may take a long time to heal.

Clicker Piece

This Siren cartilage hoop is in titanium and gold plated, and it’s a clicker! Clicker hoops are typically more expensive than simple seam ones. In regards to BVLA, sometimes making a piece into a clicker can be a lot more expensive than just getting the simple seam. The piece is so dainty that I’m afraid that I’ll break it, but the clicker does work (as it should)!

Warranty?

I mentioned above that BVLA has some kind of lifetime warranty. Maison Miru’s site as of January 2023 says they have a 365 day happiness guarantee. They also note that discoloration, oxidation and tarnishing are inevitable for plated jewelry, so this piece will most likely discolor or fade since it’s plated. This piece (and most pieces) isn’t solid gold so that makes sense.

Worth It?

A bit too soon for me to say, but their claims on their pieces made from medical grade titanium and are safe for everyday activities and for sensitive ears, including perfect for healing, then yes if those claims are true. Their pieces are gorgeous, so if you like the design and don’t mind the price, then yes, I’d say worth it! As any other dainty earring, these things can be so tiny so be careful not to lose them and such.
