David Yurman Cable Classics Bracelet Review – My First DY Bracelet!

I’ve heard about David Yurman many years ago, but freaked out about the prices. Most pieces I’ve seen back then were close to and over $1,000. I took a closer look at the David Yurman website and saw that there were some nice looking pieces for under $1,000, and decided to treat myself to a Christmas gift after such a busy month (worked most of my birthday and weekends!). I chose their 5mm cable classics bracelet with pearl, and here’s my David Yurman bracelet review.

Ordering, Shipping, and Packaging

Ordering was very simple as most online shopping experiences are extremely easy. It was close to Christmastime, and my bracelet arrived within 2 days. Free and quick shipping! They have you choose between their premium packaging (box with ribbon) and essential packaging (drawstring pouch and polishing cloth). The premium packaging includes the pouch and cloth as well, and the essential packaging doesn’t come with the fancy looking box. You know I’m such a sucker for amazing packaging, so I chose the premium packaging. The price doesn’t change between the 2. This is my first David Yurman review and piece, so gimme the luxury packaging!

Bracelet Specs

David Yurman has a lot of cable bracelets and they come in various sizes. I selected their 5mm one since that was in the middle of their sizes. It wears cuff-like, and they have a variety of sizes corresponding to the size of the wrist.

Sizes

5.0 – 5.5 in – X-Small
5.5 – 6.0 in – Small
6.0 – 6.5 – Medium
6.5 – 7.0 in – Large
7.0 – 7.5 in – X-Large

Most bracelets come in Medium, and fewer come in the other sizes. My wrists are tiny, so I selected the XS. The cable classics bracelet comes in either all silver or silver with a lil of gold on the tips before the stone. I chose the two-toned one since it looked more interesting than all silver to me during purchase time.

The stone choices for the tips are (as of December 2021) –
  • Black Onyx – $575
  • Blue Topaz – $575
  • Citrine – $575
  • Garnet – $625
  • Pearl – $575
  • Peridot – $625

I really liked the peridot because I like green, but did not want to pay an additional $50 for that option. Blue Topaz (birthstone-like) and Pearl looked great to me too, and I ultimately chose pearl because it looked a bit more neutral and would be a good first David Yurman bracelet to have.

Material

It’s just mostly sterling silver, unfortunately. Yes, I spent a bit over $600 (taxes included) on a mostly sterling silver bracelet. One time thing, I hope… yet again, I treated myself to a Hermes bracelet several years ago around the holidays.

Free Gift

LOL, free gift… “free” gift. Sometimes I would order something just to get the free gift, but I had no idea David Yurman was giving away their 2021 ornament with orders! That was a super nice surprise. I had no clue when I ordered, and then saw in an email that every order that time comes with their Angelika ornament. They call it a “festive ornament [that] is adorned with touches of Cable and can be worn
as a personal talisman.” Aw, talisman.

David Yurman Talisman

It’s a pretty ornament. It does say 2021 on the back, so I wonder if they give an ornament with every holiday-season purchase each year. This could get me to buy another David Yurman bracelet another year just to see the ornament!

Sterling Silver Tarnishes

Hence the bracelet comes with a polishing cloth! The header photo shows a slight mark on the bracelet, and I initially thought I received a used and returned bracelet. I then wiped the bracelet with the polishing cloth, and the markings came off. The bracelet may tarnish easily, similar to other sterling jewelry when not kept safely when not being worn.

Worth It or Buyer’s Regret?

The packaging made up for the price. Kidding… OK, a bit of both to be honest. I’m not thrilled that I paid. so much for a mostly sterling silver bracelet, but I do like the versatility of the bracelet. It’s definitely a good stacking bracelet, and can be worn casually and formally. I heard the bracelet keeps very well, so at least I don’t have to worry too much about handling this expensive piece of designer silver.
