Fitness Journal – Day 12 of 90 (Happy Lunar New Year!)
Happy Lunar New Year! It is day 12 of 90 of my 90 day fitness journey. I took the day off from work today, and it has been very nice being able to go for a long walk with the kids, husband, and the pups, and some uninterrupted baking.
Morning
I didn’t get to sleep in today because I had to pee during the normal time I wake up on weekdays, and couldn’t fall back asleep after that. My work emails were slow (thank goodness on my day off), and I enjoyed my coffee and cheese with crackers while watching the latest episode of This is Us. Today is full of superstitions as it’s Lunar New Year, and one of the superstitions is no crying as it supposedly brings bad luck through the year. This is Us is known to bring tears, but for some reason, no tears here!
Lunar New Year Superstitions
There are some things my parents won’t do on Lunar New Year because they believe it will cause bad luck through the rest of the year. This site explains most of it. I’m not really a superstitious person, but there are certain things I would do so that my folks won’t be disappointed. They specifically mentioned do not shower/wash hair and do laundry the day of, so I’m not doing that today. They are also not eating meat today, and that one is a toss up depending on the site. Some don’t mention it, some do, and some only specify no meat for breakfast.
Lunch – BBQ and Boba
ShareTea sent me a text saying first 100 people to order will get a red envelope. My son previously asked for boba, and I thought to get it on Sunday, but the red envelope changes everything! Today will be a boba day after all. I had to go to the post office, which is right by the Trader Joe’s, so then we (husband and I) decided to get some BBQ and boba for lunch. The red envelope received is the picture above the BBQ. Year of the ox… so cute! No real money, but it came with a couple themed chocolate coins!
Love me some TJ’s
I stopped by TJ’s since it was in the area and stocked up on certain things, such as milk, smoked salmon, beverages, dried fruits (added that recently!), etc. The husband added another bag of their Everything Kettle Chips, so I was rather surprised. I didn’t like them because the textures weren’t consistent as some had a stale-chip texture, but I guess the husband doesn’t mind.
Lunch Details
We ordered a bacon cheeseburger, quarter slab of ribs, and 3 sides – coleslaw, baked beans, and collard greens. The kids had their kids meals that included chicken, corn bread, and a brownie. We got extra hot BBQ sauce, and it was so good! Such a satisfying lunch.
Today’s Workouts
I went on a 45 mins – 1 hour walk today, and that felt so good! Tomorrow is Saturday, so I’ll be at my parents’ place all day, so I did tomorrow’s Blogilates workout today and will do today’s shorter workout tomorrow. Thighs and legs were today’s focus –
- Leg Slimming Workout – short workout video and I only did one round since there are 30+ mins of other stuff to do on the day’s calendar. Not too bad, but somehow the first move was ugh to me.
- 20 Minute Leg Slimming Pilates Workout – not bad at all. There are 3 rounds repeating the same 7 or so moves.
- 10 Minute Inner Thigh Slimmer – this one reminds me of one video from last Saturday.
- INSANE Butt & Thigh Workout – one of Cassey’s older videos. Not bad because it wasn’t as long.
Dinner!
Tonight’s dinner consisted of leftovers. Gotta clear out all or most of the leftovers by tomorrow! The kids and I were watching Buzzfeed’s/Tasty’s Worth It on Hulu, which I’ve watched in the past before it was on Hulu. Both kids seem to enjoy it. The episodes we watched featured some buffets and restaurants in Vegas, and that just takes me back. I miss it, and wonder when will be the next time to go with the usual group. Sigh.
Today’s Overview
Wow, I had a lot more carbs today than I did with fats and proteins. This doesn’t seem right, but it is what googling gets me. I thought I had more proteins today, but supposedly that boba was practically all carbs. Worth it, though! Well, more 90 day fitness journey tomorrow.
