Fitness Journal – Day 39 of 90 (Baked Matcha Shortbread Cookies!)
We’re at day 39 of 90 of this 90 day journal recording thingy! Wow, as another day goes by, the more impressed I am with keeping this up.
Morning
I had the remaining smoked salmon this morning, along with some cheese and crackers. That stuff from Trader Joe’s is addictive and somewhat healthy. I also had my usual brewed coffee, plus the second half of my venti extra shots Starbucks caramel machiatto with oat milk. It’s funny because I usually do not like caramel, but I like the small bit of it that comes in Starbucks’ caramel machiattos.
Work and Lunch
It was a lot less busier than I thought today would be today. I watched a couple episodes of Top Chef this morning and had an early lunch because of the kids’ break schedules today. We had leftovers from yesterday in addition to some frozen foods – pan fried dumplings/pot stickers and bagel bites.
Afternoon Baking
I baked some matcha shortbread this afternoon since I had the time and I was craving for either cookies or cake or sweet bread. The first thing that came to mind was conchas, but I didn’t have enough butter to bake a good batch. I had some matcha powder and one stick of butter, so I used that to make some matcha shortbread cookies. Aren’t the raw cookies to beautiful?
Today’s Workouts
The ab challenge ended yesterday, and I did zero ab work today. We’re back to regular Blogilates videos today, and today’s workout contained the following –
- Lean & Toned Arms – a 7 minute workout with various arm workouts without weights and minor cardio.
- Extreme Weightless Arm Toner – a 30 minute arm and back workout without weights. Typical stuff like walnut crushers, golf balls, circling the arms, and the dreaded prayer pulses.
- Insane Weightless Arms Workout – a short weightless arms workout similar to the above, but doing various moves for 2 songs. All the videos for this arms day contained prayer pulses, but I shouldn’t be surprised.
My arms got tired quick from a lot of these early on, so there were moments where I took a break while the video was still playing. I immediate snacked on chips in between these videos!
Dinner – Chicken Fajitas!
So glad those matcha shortbreads kept most of its shape after baking! They were so wonderful and I’m excited to have more with my coffee tomorrow morning. Dinner tonight was chicken fajitas. The husband cooked and made guac and some tomato/onion/jalapeno mix to go with the fajitas. Good protein!
Today’s Overview
I really thought today would be busier. It was fairly productive at work, and I got to do some baking today. I really need to remember to restock on sugar, butter, and other baking stuff this coming weekend though. Protein intake was pretty good, and I could have gone without the snacking, but that part is difficult. I snack for the flavor and during times of stress and boredom, and not because I’m hungry. My taste buds are satisfied though!
