Fitness Journal – Day 38 of 90 (Crazy Weather + Great Food!)

It’s Day 38 of 90 of this 90 day journey! Today was interesting weather-wise, as it was cold-ish, rained on and off, and had an afternoon episode of hail. It was an amazing day of food though!

Morning

I made a pot of coffee and drank about half of it, and had some crackers, cheese, and smoked salmon for breakfast. Work didn’t blow up just yet, so I watched an episode of Top Chef before starting my work day.

Work and Lies

I was running my usual Wednesday reports for work, and the husband had to do a drop off of kids’ assignments. Our son ensured us that he had everything in there, but it turns out he was missing an assignment to turn in. He lied to his dad’s face! I had to pick up to what was happening as I was working, but wow… The husband was dropping off our son’s stuff and realized other kids had more things turned in, so that’s when he figured out he wasn’t telling the truth. Our son’s excuse was that he lost it, which he didn’t mention it before, and he cried through lunch time. Ayeee… eventually it was found, but that means the husband had to drive back to the school to turn that in. He tried to get our son to understand that he was extremely lucky that he found out instead of finding out about it from his teacher.

Lunch – Panda Express

We received some Panda Express coupons in the mail and we used one for a BOGO bowl today. I usually get my sweetfire chicken entree, but they didn’t have that today! Noooooo!! They were advertising their new firecracker chicken, so I tried that instead. It wasn’t anything special and it wasn’t spicy to me, so I added in some hot sauce. Hopefully the location closest to us did not discontinue the sweetfire chicken since that’s practically the only entree I really enjoy from Panda Express. They have other entrees that I think it’s OK, but sweetfire chicken (the breaded one with the red peppers and pineapples) was the only reason I’d get Panda Express in the first place.

Starbucks!

The husband picked up Panda (thank you coupon LOL) after he dropped off our son’s first assignments. Since he was going back to the school, he asked if I wanted Starbucks. I was tempted to, and was even going to walk to Starbucks, but it was pouring and hailing at the time, so I told the husband, “Yes, please!” Starbucks had a deal where if you ordered a grande or larger drink last week, a free drink gets placed in your account today, valid through Friday. I ordered a venti caramel machiatto with 4 extra shots and oat milk. Given it was the afternoon, I drank half of it and am saving the other half for tomorrow, which I’ll pour over ice. The creaminess of oat milk is pretty good the day after, unlike their regular milk.

Late Afternoon

There’s something called SF2Bay where some SF restaurants are doing pop-ups in other parts of the Bay Area. Oren’s Hummus (pretty popular in SF) is doing pop-ups on selected Wednesdays, so I placed an order for a family meal last week to be picked up today before 6PM. We picked up the box of food and reheated it before serving it. These pop-ups prepare the orders ahead of time and leave reheating instructions.

Today’s Workout

It’s the last day of the ab challenge, and my abs still feel the same!! It’s hard for me to gain or lose anything on my body, but my belly is the big problem area. It gets bloated all the time, and it doesn’t deflate no matter how many of these ab exercises I do. We’re in day 38 of Blogilates, and there are no differences in measurement to my waist. However, based off my height and weight, I’m pretty sure I’m consuming a lot more to be having any shrinkage, but I don’t want anywhere else to shrink! Maybe if I don’t see/feel any progress, I’ll do light weight work with dumbbells and such for my next “journey” to build strength and gains. Anyways, I digress… today’s last day of ab challenge consists of 100 reps of the other 9 days ab exercise, adding on today’s criss-crosses. Those went by super quickly as one rep is just one side. Sweet!

Dinner and Dessert

The heating instructions to some of the Oren’s Hummus stuff mentioned to microwave for a couple minutes. With food this good we put it in the oven instead. The family meal came with the following –

  • 3 Kebabs – we got some beef kebabs, chicken kebabs, and a veggie kebab
  • Hummus Jaffa –  thicker style of hummus with more garlic, pine nuts, olive oil and parsley
  • Israeli Salad – chopped cucumber, tomato, red onion, parsley, lemon and olive oil
  • Moroccan Carrots – steamed, sliced carrots with olive oil, garlic and Schug mild red spice
  • Green Cabbage – pickled cabbage and other veggies
  • Tabouli – bulgur, cucumber, tomatoes, herbs, olive oil and lemon juice
  • 6 White Pita Breads
  • Sauces – red chili garlic, green harissa, tahini
  • 3 Desserts – we got baklava, chocolate babka, and malabi

It was all so good! The meat with all the sides, hummus, and sauces went to well together. I really liked the baklava. The malabi was quite interesting. It wasn’t really my thing since I’m not a fan of rose flavored items, but it was nice to try and see what malabi was. It’s a rose water milk pudding with raspberry sauce, coconut flakes, and pistachios.

Today’s Overview

It wasn’t too bad for a Wednesday work-wise, but I wished I had more stuff returned to me so that I won’t be as stressed later in the month. What a shame that our son lied to his dad’s face re his assignment, so I’m really hoping he learned his lesson. We don’t want to take away any privileges or anything, but may need to resort to that if this BS happens again. It was a great food day as we got takeout for lunch, coffee, and dinner!
