Fresh Conch and Flat Piercing – More BVLA Jewelry!

History – I got triple lobe piercings on both my ears – from when I was in my early twenties (the ones I got at 18 got infected) and early thirties), and then I got a daith, a faux rook, and a helix on my left ear earlier this year. My right ear was a bit bare with just the triple lobes, so I got a conch and a flat piercing last week. These are fresh piercings, so they’ll look amazing here, along with more BVLA jewelry review. I plan to document this journey a bit just as I did with the daith and faux rook (they’re doing fine, looks about the same as my prior post).

The Curation / Consultation

One thing I love about going to my piercer is his honesty and time to do ear curations. He brings out the jewelry from the display (all BVLA, I believe) and holds ones that I may be interested in to my ear to see how it looks. I’m not the most decisive person at times, so I value his opinion. There definitely have been some pieces that mix in with others that I didn’t pay attention to, but when it’s up close to my ear, I love. I went in for a downsizing appointment for my helix and he had time, so we did an ear curation for my right ear, including to upgrade my lobe piercings on that ear.

Choosing Jewelry

There are so many BVLA jewelry that I love, but not all pieces I love would look good because not all ear anatomy is the same. My right ear has a bit of curves and we thought it’ll be nice to find a piece that’d look like it’s coming out of the curve, a bit natural and such. BVLA’s Athena piece seems to do this, and there were a few that I really liked. I decided to keep with the yellow gold base theme, so the blue topaz with diamonds was the piece to go. I’ve been afraid of conch piercings because the area is really thick (yeah, I know… I went with the daith and that’s thicker [that’s what she said]) and wasn’t sure how I’d feel with a visible hole when healed and without jewelry. My piercer put some conch samples to see how they’d look on my ear and I absolutely fell in love with that look.

The Juicy Part – How it Felt to Get my Conch (and Flat) Pierced

CRUNCHHHHHH!!! That was pretty much the conch. I definitely heard a crunch, but it wasn’t really painful. It did feel a bit spicy afterwards, but that didn’t last for too long. I’d say my faux rook’s pinch was a quite a bit more painful than the conch. The flat piercing hurt a bit more (not as bad as the faux rook) surprisingly, but wasn’t bad at all. Both piercings that this day was really quick as the other times.

Waivers and Cleaning Stuff

New piercings, signing the same waiver form each time. Got another bottle of saline spray afterwards as well!

BVLA Jewelry

Can buy from piercing studios listed in their directory. BVLA doesn’t sell directly on their website to us, but we can look at a good selection of their stuff online. So obsessed, but yet so pricey. My recent pieces here include –

This Recent Piercing
  • Athena – with blue topaz and diamond. I was like aw shoot when I heard it was diamond since I knew it’d be so much more expensive. The blue topaz is really pretty and the color looks a bit different depending on the lighting. The Athena piece is really nice and solid, and BVLA’s lifetime warranty sounds really great. Really hope I never lose any of these pieces! This Athena piece is my most expensive piece. Yup, could have gotten my laptop replaced, but again chose to get earrings instead.
  • Devotion – with tanzanite. This goes with my daith piece because of the tanzanite. I didn’t want matching pieces in either ear, but some common resemblance sounded good. This piece isn’t too big or too small for my conch, and it’s also really solid and beautiful. They also had a Padparadscha Sapphires variation, a deep pink/light red that looked so pretty. I liked that one on display more than the tanzanite, but liked the tanzanite more on my ear and it matched with my other stuff.
3 Lobe Update
  • AJ – with seafoam tourmaline. Definitely caught my eye as I love green. This one is really light colored it fit my first lobe! It isn’t as flat as the ones on my other ear’s lobes – small amity leaf, micro pave disc, and tri bead cluster, but it looks great! I can place it on my left ear’s faux rook too, maybe at a later date.
  • Hammered Rectangle – ok, not 100% sure if this is what it’s called, but this is an amazing simple piece. The hammered look gives it some texture, and it’s great for small spaced holes.
  • Tri Prong Cluster – Nice dainty piece for the lobe. Looks pretty standard, but works well with many other pieces. Feels great too!
My Left Ear
  • Inside Out Eden Pear – my daith! With tanzanite and mercury mist topaz. I fell in love with this shape when I was choosing my daith piercing. There are so many hoops that I really like and I hope to build a collection of these in the near future. Great quality and I sense no deterioration after these 3+ months having it in.
  • Tau – on my faux rook! Green with clear stones. I was picking on what I really liked and wasn’t thinking about a theme, so I might want to switch this one out depending on what other pieces I accumulate. The look is so nice though, and it’s well made. Definitely not a flat piece since there’s quite a bit of shape and thickness to this piece.
  • Embrace – on my helix! Might be more tanzanite and one other stone. Tiny rectangular-ish piece that fits really well. Can also do well on lobes.
  • Small Amity Leaf – on my first lobe. Such a cute dainty piece. This one can spin off rather easily so I’m checking often to ensure it’s fully screwed in.
  • Micro Pave Disc – lol, from a distance, this one reminds me a bit of the LV logos to some extent. Another reason I really like this one. Super flat and comfy.
  • Tri Bead Cluster – rather standard piece, but goes so well with nearly everything and sits comfortably on my third lobe.
First cleaning of these new piercings! A bit throbby the first night, but I kind of like it.

What’s Next?

I’m definitely missing a helix on my right ear. I’ll ask when is an appropriate time to get one and if it’ll be suitable for my ear when I get my conch and flat piercings downsized mid/late September. I’d love a forward helix, but I don’t think either of my ears are anatomically compatible for that unfortunately. A tragus would be so cool on my right ear, but hmm, really scared for that as well. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my conch and flat piercing experience and more of my BVLA jewelry review!
