Dyson Hair Dryer Review – Too Fancy for My Use, but It’s Good!

I’ve been meaning to get a new hair dryer for years, but didn’t get one then because I usually let my hair air dry. Then I got more ear piercings and I started to dry my hair to keep my ears dryer. The one I had was a cheap-ish one from Target and a part of it broke. My hair gets frizzy, and the Dyson one came to mind. Is it really that good that it’s worth the $400+?

Ordering/Contents/General Info

  • Comes in various color combinations. I chose the Vinca Blue and Rose combination.
  • Comes with various attachments. Mine came with 5 attachments, paddle brush, detangling comb, and a presentation case. It also allowed me to choose a display stand, but that got shipped separately and has not yet arrived.
  • Under $500 after taxes and such.
  • Supposedly dries hair faster and is suitable for all/most hair types.

The shipping box. Funny how the contents are displayed right there. Luckily no one stole my package!
Opened the package. It looks so beautiful!
Opened the product box. It’s semi-wrapped and sealed with a rose gold colored circle sticker.
Box that is used to store the hair dryer and its accessories. I expected this case to be better quality, but it works.

Arrival and Packaging

The hair dryer and its accessories were in one package as this one is a set. The free display case as part of the deal arrives separately (still waiting for it, delays from FedEx or something). The main parts arrived rather quickly. Dyson had fetes to choose from to when you want to receive the package, so we selected the earliest date and it came 2 days after that. Packaging was interesting –

  • Cardboard box contained the product sticker so it’s easy to tell what was in the package. With so many package theft lately, I’m lucky that this one wasn’t stolen or opened.
  • The main product box contains the same product sticker.
  • Packaged nicely for the most part. Not the best packaging, but we’re here for the product here.
Lifted the lid off and here’s how it looks like.
Lift the layer and here are some more attachments, the cord, etc. The separators are thin cardboard and not meant to be kept within the box. Purely display.
Instructions/manual does not come with. It’s all online!
Under the box is another compartment that contains the brush and detangling comb
Everything fits in here! I keep the brush separate, but all the attachments, the hair dryer itself and such fits in here.

Dyson Hair Dryer Review – After A Few Uses!

OK, so this hair dryer feels quite nice. The use is rather self explanatory, click on the buttons to reduce heat or cooling, and the on/off switch and the cold blast. The attachments attach really well and are easy to remove as well.  It really did dry my hair faster than my prior dryer. It is rather loud, but the rest of it is pretty good. Is it worth the $400+? Well… if you put in the use and it doesn’t break, sure, but it is still a bit too fancy for me since I don’t style my hair other than keeping it down or some kind of ponytail.

Hair Issues

My hair gets frizzy, especially those on the top. I look so unkept most of the time because of those hairs sticking out. This Dyson hair dryer has a diffuser and it says it reduces the frizz, and OMG it actually did! I had no idea what I was doing, but I used the diffuser attachment after mostly dryer my hair and it didn’t feel like much, but it did work. My hair was less frizzy afterwards and the next day, etc.

Worth It? What’s Next?

With this price, hopefully this would be the final hair dryer I’d ever buy for myself. The product itself is nice, but I’m unsure if I will actually use all the attachments based on my hair. The 2 that I did use were amazing so it was worth it for that, and the faster hair drying time. Plus, it looks and feels pretty amazing. This hair dryer better not breakdown. I’ll keep it in its box when not in use.

On my bathroom floor, to take a photo of the stuff not in the box, after drying my hair.
