My First SK-II Essence Experience and Review

I haven’t been consistent with a skincare routine, and it’s one of those things that I hope to get better with starting now. My skin is rather sensitive and I’ve tried plenty of samples of various skincare brands, and I haven’t stuck around for more than a few days at a time because I either got lazy or my skin had somewhat of a reaction to the product. Someone told me years ago that SK-II would be great for me, but I didn’t end up purchasing any back then because the price tag scared me.

Several Years Later

I’ve noticed some aging and decided it was finally time for me to try to be consistent with a skin routine. Products are pricey, so I’m trying items one at a time with various samples. I decided to go for SK-II based on someone’s recommendation, so here’s my SK-II essence review! I’ll do this by captions via photos. I bought the essence online, and OMG packaging was great. Enjoy the photos.

I ordered one of the special edition themed essenses online, so it came with some bonuses and some samples. The packaging looks so amazing. These red boxes will be used for storage for sure!!
This is inside one of the boxes. These are all the bonuses - some pins, and various samples of their products!
My samples/goodies consisted of a set of pins, bag, essence samples (I gave these to my mom!), moisturizer cream, masks, etc. I love it!! SO CUTE.
Aren't these pins so adorable? So cute to take out of the packaging.
Here's the actual product I ordered! 230mL of SK-II facial treatment essence.
This is one of the special edition ones re Tokyo/Olympics. They had different colored tops, and I chose green!
There's a symbol that says 12M. That means the product is good for 12 months after opening. I got a year to use up this whole thing!

SK-II Essence Review

They recommend going from lightest to heaviest on the face, and essence falls somewhere in the middle for a few item skin routine, and more in the beginning for many item skin routines. Samples provided me with some facial lotion and some moisturizer. I’ve started using the facial lotion first, and then this essence, and then the moisturizer. It’s been pretty good these couple weeks. My skin had no reaction to any of these products, which is AMAZING. No itchiness, redness etc. I wished I tried this stuff out ages ago, but $200+ was too much back then.

What’s Next?

I can’t really tell if my skin looks better, but these products did not give me a negative reaction, other than taking quite a bit of money (over $200!). So far it’s been more promising than other face products I’ve tried, so if I save up some money and such, I think I’ll buy some more SK-II items for my face.
