Confession – I completely had tunnel vision when I heard about this ice cream, meaning that my mind focused on the “peach” and ignored the “crisp.” Peaches are so delicious and I love peach ice cream, so I was expecting big peach flavor, but it’s more of the crisp, notably the buttery oat crisp, with this peach crisp ice cream.
Packaging and Description
Another solid TJ’s ice creams in its pint sized containers. This southern peach crisp ice cream stands out because the color is a vibrant orange with yellow text and accents. Its description is spot on for what this ice cream is – Southern Peach Crisp Ice Cream with peach puree and a crunchy buttery oat crisp.
The Initial Look @ The Peach Crisp Ice Cream
Above is how the ice cream looks after opening. White with a small swirl and small specks. Rather interesting, huh? Most of the stuff, such as the peach puree and the buttery oat crisps are dispersed randomly inside the ice cream. Some parts contain bigger chunks and other parts barely contain any.
Taste and Texture
I was extremely disappointed because I barely tasted any peach. The peach puree was mildly peach tasting and could have used more of that, but then it’d make the ice cream a bit too sweet. Most of the ice cream tasted rather buttery, as a real peach crisp’s crispy parts and the crust. I’m not really a fan of crust in pies and fruity crisps, sooo… LOL. The texture was great though – consistent and smooth, other than the chunks inside. Chunks varied in size, with some larger pieces. The same goes for the peach puree as some parts had a very faint swirl and other parts was more prominent.
Didn’t Fit My Flavor Profiles, but Still Very Great
Look how gorgeous the ice cream is above! I was expected lots of peach and possibly peach chunks, so if you’re not looking for that and looking for more southern peach crisp, then you might really like this ice cream. My bestie really liked it as she wasn’t expecting peach (totally my bad lol). TJ’s did a wonderful job putting the peach crisp dessert into an ice cream flavor with the buttery oat crisps portion.
Nutrition and Such
This is not a non-dairy TJ’s frozen dessert, unlike their cold brew coffee boba ice cream. One pint has 3 “servings,” and each serving is 220 Calories with 11g fat, 27g carbs, and 4g protein. Not bad for ice cream considering how creamy the texture is and how buttery it tastes.
Worth It?
Around $3 for a pint, and $1 per serving considering the 3 servings that 1 pint contains. Definitely worth it for the price. Also worth it if you like peach crisps, crumbles, and the like… the buttery oat bits in particular. I probably won’t buy this one as often as their Ube ice cream, but it’s still a really good TJ’s ice cream. I just expected a lot more peach.
