Trader Joe’s Sour Cream & Onion Flavored Rings – Lentil and Rice Snacks

Trader Joe’s Lentil Rings

If you’re looking for chips that look like and taste like funyuns, these aren’t it! Trader Joe’s ring chips are sour cream and onion flavored made from lentils and rice.

First Impressions and Packaging

Another Trader Joe’s snack post from me. These looked pretty good at a first impression with its green packaging and onion ring shaped thingys. I didn’t see the actual size portion on the back, so I was rather surprised by how tiny these things are! I ate one and wasn’t impressed, but then I drank some wine, and wow, these are pretty good!

Nutrition and Such

A bag of this stuff has 340 Calories with 15g fat, 41g carbs, and 11g protein. That’s great… 11g protein in a bag of these! Also 14% of daily fiber. Not bad at all. These are also gluten free.

Size and Texture

LOL, these are really small!! The texture was a mix between a dense corn chip and regular potato chips. There is a bit lentil-y about these, but with a glass of wine or 2, the sour cream flavor comes out and these taste pretty good! Knowing that there is protein and fiber makes me feel better about eating these in a sitting. Darn it, wine! It beats blindly online shopping for things I don’t need though.

Overall Thoughts / Worth It?

These Trader Joe’s lentil rings chips were $2, and given the price of individual size bags of chips these days, these are pretty worth it. There’s a different type of sour cream & onion flavor to these, but it isn’t terrible. These are probably healthier than regular funyuns or sour cream & onion chips too. I didn’t enjoy these upon first bite, but they’re pretty delicious with some influence. Also the packaging is pretty neat too.
