Trader Joe’s Crispy Peanut Butter Filled Milk Chocolate Peanuts

Description

My neighborhood TJ’s was late to the game in stocking their TJ’s chocolate peanuts. These TJ’s chocolate peanuts are “Crispy Peanut Butter filled Milk Chocolate PEANUTS, peanut shaped milk chocolate filled with peanut butter & crispy rice.”

Packaging

The husband was surprised when I added these to the cart because I’m not a peanut butter fan and I prefer dark chocolate over milk chocolate. He saw the packaging and immediately asked me, “Are you getting these because there’s a squirrel on the packaging?” The truth is I may have gotten them for the packaging alone if I haven’t heard about these from my bestie. I love squirrels! The packaging is adorable with a gray squirrel holding a TJ’s chocolate peanut. The description is clear on the packaging, listing that they are peanut-shaped milk chocolates filled with peanut butter and crispy rice.

Nutrition

These addictive pieces are dense with Calories. Three pieces will run 170 Calories, with 11g fat, 14g carbs (which 10g of them are added sugars), and 4g protein. Consuming several of these in multiple sittings throughout the day will really add up. The good news is, on a 2,000 Calorie diet, eating the whole bag of these in a day will not exceed 100% of the recommended added sugars cap. LOL, please do not consume an entire bag of these by yourself in one sitting. It’s tempting, and I’m trying real hard not to consume more than 1 serving of these a day.

Taste and Texture

I can see these melting and sticking to each other if it’s too warm. Temperature here has been alright, so these were not melty and sticky. There were no broken ones in the bag too. The texture of these are pretty good and as expected. They taste great together, and rather different if eaten separately. Milk chocolate portion tasted like regular milk chocolate, but the peanut butter with crispy rice portion tasted rather salty when licked alone. Together they are amazing, and separately not so great unless you really enjoy salty peanut butter. The crispy rice really puts it all together and memorable. I do wish there was more of it because I like the texture it provides.

Worth It?

Definitely, if you’re OK with consuming the ingredients these are made of. I’m not really a fan of peanut butter, but I’ve enjoyed these immensely. The price (~$3) is not bad for these too. Imagine a fancy candy shop selling these peanut butter chocolates individually… you’ll definitely get more out of this TJ’s bag of peanut butter chocolates for a similar texture/taste. Put a few of these in a small fancy box and gift it to someone that enjoys these things, and they’ll be so amazed. Then gift them a bag of these in the packaging. I suppose what I’m saying is yes, these are worth it and I approve.
