Harry & David Pears, Apples, and Cheese Review – Bruised Apples, but Great Service!
I really enjoyed the Harry & David chocolates, and this pears (6), apples (4), and cheese (3) box is very divine! It was my first year receiving Harry & David, giving me the chance to write my second Harry and David review.
What was in this Harry & David Box?
Straight from their website –
- Approx. 6 seasonal Pears (2 lb 13 oz)
- Approx. 4 seasonal apples (1 lb 10 oz)
- Sharp white cheddar cheese (4 oz)
- Gouda cheese (6 oz)
- Rogue Creamery® TouVelle® cheese (4 oz) (I got the Sartori® BellaVitano® Gold cheese)
Can the Cheese be Consumed Immediately out of the Box?
There’s the “keep refrigerated” label on the cheese, and the shipment did not come with any dry ice or anything, and it was in transit for many days. I take extra precaution when it comes to things like that, so I immediately put the cheese in the fridge to consume the next day. I’d figure a lot of people would want to consume cheese immediately, so I asked their customer service. They said it was fine to consume immediately! Awesome!
The Taste and Such
The edible portions were all really good! Pears were delicious that I didn’t have to bake a pear tart. The pears were enjoyed in its raw state. Yum! The apples were very sweet and juicy, though all of them had some bruising. Cheeses were pretty good too. My fave was the Sartori BellaVitano Gold cheese. It was so difficult not eating that whole block in one sitting!
The Not so Great Portion
Yes, everything tasted good, but not all of it arrived perfectly. The apples were ALL bruised! The images are below, and my thoughts/experiences are in the captions.
Overall Harry and David Review Comments
Very glad to have have received such a thoughtful and generous gift box! I loved the taste of everything in there, but it’s too bad re the apple quality. I took it to customer service, and it was such a breeze! My replacement arrived a few days after they said it would. The apples are much less bruised, but I got some pears in there as well, so I’m overall very happy with this gift box!
