Louis Vuitton’s Pochette Métis in Reverse Monogram

The Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis is definitely my guilty buy this year. I try to go for zero – one pricey purses a year, and this is it for this year, hopefully.

What is the LV Pochette Metis?

The LV Pochette Metis is a compact and versatile bag. It comes in various prints, and most prints/colors look rather different from one another, which gives a different look/style/feel to the bag. The bag has an adjustable strap that’s also removable. One can wear the bag cross-body or carry as a top-handle. It contains a S-lock closure that gives it a formal and clean look. The design and ways of carrying the bag makes the bag fit in during both casual and formal settings.

Which Pochette Metis Did I Choose (and Why)?

TBH, I wasn’t quite fond of the Pochette Metis when I saw the standard photos (like the ones above) because it didn’t give me a good sense of its versatility. It wasn’t until I saw photos of the Pochette Metis on people using the strap until I saw what this bag can do. The Monogram Empreinte Leather in either Turtledove or Black stood out to me the most, but that print in general makes the bag look a bit too formal for me. Also, it cost close to $400 more than regular monogram and reverse monogram. My LV purchase for myself before this one was my Sarah Wallet, and I got that in monogram. I also have a Neverfull MM in monogram too, so based off process of elimination and such, I went with the Reverse Monogram print. This is my first reverse monogram print! I thought it didn’t look good the first time I saw it, but it goes so well with this bag because there’s both regular monogram and reverse monogram, as opposed to the same pattern throughout the whole bag.

The Ordering Process

LV’s online stock has been rather unpredictable, and many pieces keep saying “Currently Unavailable” or “Sold Out” or something along those lines. I didn’t want to go to a LV store, and I heard that many people have luck ordering the product(s) by contacting LV’s customer service. That was exactly what we (husband and I) did. We called the number provided on LV’s website and asked when they might have their Pochette Metis in stock again, and they said we can order through them and that we should receive it within 21 days. That was easy enough! They asked some questions, such as whether we were in a rush/date needed by, whether this was a gift, any writing on card, etc. They sent us an email confirmation re the order and it also said that they’ll notify us when the item ships. I was hoping the bag would ship closer toward the 21 days because that means it’ll appear on the next credit card statement, but to my surprise, it shipped just 3 days later! My new Pochette Metis arrived just 2 days after that.

The Package / Packaging

Our email mentioned that signature was required, but UPS left it in front of our door. I heard a beep sound and then refreshed the tracking and it had said, “Delivered.” The box was a regular non-descript brown box. The labels do not specifically say “Louis Vuitton,” which is great. There was a spot that said, “LVNA” or something along those lines. The interior of the brown packaging says, “Louis Vuitton” on an edge, and the orangey box fit comfortable in there. Unfortunately, the LV box was a bit damaged, but LV box quality isn’t the best compared to some other designer/high-end packaging. The box had its standard blue “ribbon” wrap, and the inside contains the receipt, return label, and such. It also came with a small envelope and blank card in case you want to write a gift message. They would have printed a message on the card if requested.

Initial Thoughts

I was a bit worried that the ripped box would dictate how the bag would be, and I’m so glad that wasn’t the case! The bag is amazing. There are no broken spots or poor quality design aspects that I can see, and I hope it stays that way. The bag felt so good to touch too. I’ve read that some peoples’ LV online orders have some quality issues so they recommend having the bag shipped to a store in case there are such issues, so I’m extra glad that I’m happy with my bag.

Adjustable Strap = Win!

The adjustable strap aspect of the Pochette Metis drew me more toward the bag compared to another LV bag I had in mind – their Alma BB. Their Alma BB has a removable strap too, but that strap is not adjustable. I’m petite / shorter than I’d like to me, and most likely standard size straps will hang too low on me.

Other Comments

I’ll definitely carry this bag out as much as I can! It fits my Sarah Wallet and many other little things in there. The bag is a bit hard to close when it’s empty, but when the front section is filled, it’s much easier to close. That’s no biggie. I can’t get over how amazing the bag feels. It’s on par with my other LV canvas items, maybe a bit better. I’m not too fond of the cow hide interior because I feel that it cheapens the bag a bit, but it does make sense on the casual aspect of this pricey bag.
