Bark Box – Are Their Toys Initially Coated with Treats?

I’m thanking Ibotta for this Bark Box review. There was a $25 cash back offer from Ibotta (thank you, bestie!) to get a Bark Box, so I redeemed that offer to give my pups a Bark Box to try.

What is Bark Box?

Bark Box is a monthly subscription service where they send you a box with the following –

  • 2 toys
  • 2 bags of treats
  • 1 bag of chewers

Each month differs as they set a theme each month. You get to fill out your doggy profile so they know which toys to send as some toys are made for larger dogs and others for smaller dogs.

Bark Box Cost

A Bark Box is not cheap. One single box cost $35, so thankfully for the Ibotta discount, I paid $10 (plus taxes or something). 12 month or 6 month subscriptions lower the monthly box cost by a bit (I think each box would be $25 or so?). I did not want to subscribe, so I selected the 1 month option which technically charges you each month until you cancel. Confirmation email received for my box, and then I canceled to avoid the recurring monthly costs. and boxes.

Box Arrival and First Impression

The box arrived nicely, and Mochi immediately went up to it and wanted it so badly. She was barking at the box and was so excited as we opened it. I thought the box was nicely packaged. The theme was Squeakaway Camp, so the toys were camping themed. Pretty cute! It included a nice paper on the bottom re the theme and the toy possibilities the box can come with depending on dog size.

Dog Treats – Were These Treats on the Toys Too?

Mochi has gotten more excited re this Bark Box than any other toy we got her. Snowy ran toward the box in a bit too, and both of them were so impatient. They both got so excited over the toys, acting as cats on catnip, or at least the hyper parts of it. We thought if the toys were sprayed with treats or some of the treat scent got onto the toys during transport, hence their excitement. It unfortunately died down after a bit though.

Our Box Contents

The pups got the below in their box –

  • Toy 1 – Stick squeaker toy with squeaky marshmallows – the marshmallow small toys were removable and the dogs enjoyed chewing the longer stick portion.
  • Toy 2 – Nap Bandit – lil raccoon toy than be taken out, so 2 small toys that connect in a sense.
  • Treat 1 – Gobble Jerky Sticks Turkey Recipe with Sweet Potato. These are chewy jerky sticks.
  • Treat 2 – Gobble Soft Bakes Turkey Recipe with Berries – these look like mini chocolate chip cookies, LOL.
  • Grain Free Chew Sticks Beef Recipe – small beef chews.

Worth It?

Pups are amazing and they deserve so much love, but will they play with all those toys continuously? Bark Box is a nice concept and their packaging is amazing and I love their themes, but it’s a bit too pricey for what it is for me. It’s nice if money wasn’t a factor though because I loved how Mochi got so excited even before the box was opened. Bark Box claims the box has $40 of stuff in there, but you can most likely buy 2 dog toys and a few bags of dog treats for less. It’s nice for the dogs to try some new stuff, but I don’t think I’ll be a regular subscriber.

Sense of Humor FTW

“Let’s Sniff Butts” was on the side of the Bark Box. Pretty funny!
