Tatcha Lucky Bag – 2023 Review!

Tatcha Lucky Bag – 2023

Happy New Year! I was looking forward to Tatcha’s lucky bag event just as I did last year. Last year’s goodies are explained in my prior post – here. I love the lucky bag events more than their prior 25% off around/after Thanksgiving because I love certain surprises. The code this year when available is LUCKY23 – surprise bag of stuff worth $100 if you spend $100 – $199.99 and a surprise bag worth $200 if you spend $200+. I wanted both, so I placed 2 orders – one for a bit over $100 and another for a bit over $200. I was so excited to enter the code that I forgot to select my free samples!

$200 Lucky Bag Breakdown

  • The Silk Sunscreen – 50 ml, 1.7 fl. oz. – Wow, looks small, but it’s FULL SIZE! $62.
  • Luminous Dewy Skin Mist – 40ml, 1.35 fl. oz. – Another FULL SIZE item! $49
  • The Silk Cream – 10ml, 0.34 fl. oz. – Travel size. $32
  • Indigo Overnight Repair – 10 ml, 0.34 fl. oz. – Travel size. $22
  • The Camellia Cleansing Oil – 50ml, 1.7 fl. oz. – Travel size. $20
  • The Silk Canvas – 7g, 0.24 oz. – Mini size. $24

TOTAL: $209!

Will I Use?

I’m liking this year’s $200 bag more than last year’s $200 bag, and more than this year’s $100 bag. I enjoyed last year’s $100 bag more. I would use most of the stuff in this bag, including trying the silk sunscreen, silk cream, and cleansing oil. Luminous dewy skin mist and silk canvas seems to be very popular with surprises with Tatcha because I feel I get those as the surprise items lately, but don’t have much of a use for them. The dewy skin mist bottle is pretty though!

$100 Lucky Bag Breakdown

  • Violet-C Brightening Serum – 10ml, 0.34 fl. oz. – Looks like travel size, but isn’t appearing on Tatcha’s site now. Their full size of 30ml is $89, so let’s say this is $30.
  • The Liquid Silk Canvas – 10g, 0.35 oz. – Mini size. $24
  • Luminous Dewy Skin Mist – 12ml, 0.4 fl. oz. – Mini size. $22
  • Indigo Overnight Repair – 10ml, 0.34 fl. oz. – Mini size. $22

TOTAL SO FAR: $98

  • Sample size packets of Rice Polish – Classic, Gentle, and Deep. $2

TOTAL: $100.

Will I Use?

Honestly, not too much I’d use here. I’d use the Violet-C Brightening serum, but last year’s mini or travel size bottle quality seemed better than this year’s. I’d also use the rice polish sample size ones as well, though it’s too bad they didn’t include all mini/travel size items here in comparison to last year’s lucky bag.

Overall Thoughts on the Tatcha Lucky Bags 2023 Edition

Always a fun surprise as I stock up on my Tatcha stuff or to try new Tatcha products. One of my goals this year is to have a consistent skin routine. Tatcha makes it so fun with their lucky bags (great value) that I was thinking of using exclusively Tatcha just for this. I have their toner already, as well as last year’s moisturizers, so now I have the essence and other stuff. I’m a huge sucker for samples, but tbh, though I love the lucky bags, it might not be worth it to add on $$ of Tatcha stuff to cart just to get the lucky bags. I’ll use what I buy and some of the items received from the lucky bags, so I feel that this is totally worth it.

Did you have to use a different promo code for the $200 Lucky Bag? The FB sponsored ads mentioned the $200 Lucky bag. But there’s no mention of it on the Tatcha website. When I fill my cart at $100 and at $200, each cart says my freebie will be ‘Fukubukuro Tier 1 GWP’. So there’s no indication if I will be getting a different bag if I spend $200.

Same promo code. This happened last year a couple days after the start of their lucky bag event too. It most likely means they ran out of that lucky bag tier and only have the $100 ones available 🙁

I spent well over $200 and my bag was valued at about $160. Just samples..they said it wasn’t guaranteed. My order had been sitting there for over a week. They refused to make it right.

Oh no, so they didn’t honor the promo code when it was still available? I thought when the event was available and when they have the lucky bags in stock, it’d either be the $200 bag or the $100 bag. First time I’ve heard of it being somewhat in between. Sorry to hear that you had a different experience.

I was sent a $100 bag, not even the one shown in this post. After several emails with no response, calls that had a recording that phone s were closed (during their hours, and a message on social media , I finally got an email today saying that they sold out and if I had noticed, the website took the banner down for the $200 bag. The bags are now out of stock. “Sorry for the disappontnent”. All items are available on the website, so I’m not sure how they are out of stock. Maybe the bag that I wouldn’t imagine anyone saves. They didn’t make it right for me either. Seems like a separate code would help eliminate the confusion of being baited and switched.

I agree that separate codes would better eliminate the confusion, especially since it happened prior years as well. It seems the amounts of each type of bag was pre-made and they had set quantities of them. Would be nice if they’d take it away from the site on time to avoid confusing customers. I was refreshing their website each day started in the New Year until I saw the lucky bag event to get to it early, but the communication on their end wasn’t right based on this feedback and other feedback as well.
